Kauai with our buddies

We were able to get away the first week of February with our freind's the Denny's. Back to Kauai. Last time was 15 years ago! Nothing like a fresh cocconut, and sharing it with my girlfreind Margaret. We hit a few farmers markets while we were there. There was this cute little blond chick, no bigger than a minute - but super strong - wielding a machete and hacking off the tops of coconuts for customers from the back of her pick-up truck. She was quite the little granola girl...hairy legs and all! Reminded me of a harrier version of my niece Olivia..hehehehe...
We took a tour one day all over Kauai. Part of it was getting on a plane and seeing The Napali Coast and Waimea canyon. You can only see this part of the coast by boat or plane.

This island is really beautiful. Very green. Too bad I was looking for my barf bag about the last 1/2 hour of the ride...ugh! Good thing Dan was taking the pictures. This is quite the rainy little island, but it was kind to us while we were there. Only raining at night, and just a few cloudy days.

Here's Jan...er...no, that's a Monk Seal lying on the beach! We saw a few of those lying around Kauai. We had a great time with our freinds the Denny's who let us sponge off of them and share their condo for a week. Dan is standing in front of the falls they used as the opening scene in "Fantasy Island" a million years ago. "Da plane...da plane!"...

Lots of wetness over in Kauai. Things dripping all over the place. Made us feel right at home...:-). Here we are standing behind some roots that were coming down a cliff, dripping with water.
Another part of that one day tour was heading up the Waimea River to the fern grotto. We saw where they filmed lots of different things. Dan loved that we boated past the place where Indiana Jones came running out of the jungle from the natives to jump into a float plane from the first "Indiana Jones" movie. He thought that was cool. They sure film a lot of movies here. Jurrasic Park, Lost, etc..etc..

We stayed up on the northern side of the island in Princeville. Great beaches up there....Tunnels Beach and Anini Beach were our favorites. Great snorkeling! We can hardly wait to go back there with the Denny's next year (we hope!)

We stayed in a timeshare in Princeville one time and it rained 12 inches in a few hours and we were flooded out! Water up to the door of our condo! We still had fun driving to the other side of the island to get away from the rain. The fern grotto was closed down because of all the rain! Glad you had a wonderful time and got some R & R that you truly need.
